Ooh La Lash Opens At Unimart Greenhills + Helpful Trivias About Eyelash Extensions!

I'm not born with dark double lashes like Elizabeth Taylor. When I was young, they've even resorted to trimming these short fringes in hopes of having it grow longer and thicker. You name it, volumizing mascaras, curling mascaras, lengthening mascaras, waterproof /water-based mascaras and even 3d fiber lash mascaras I have already experimented with just to achieve that. On some special occasions I'd even go all out and adorn my peepers with a set of falsies. I usually wear false lashes with invisible clear bands so it wouldn't look as fake and feel heavy.

Along with other beauty bloggers, I got invited to the Grand Opening of Ooh La Lash, Hey Sugar and Nailaholics at their newest branch in Unimart, Greenhills (Mezzanine Level) last Friday. Nothing prepared me for what was going to happen! I know I wasn't blessed with beautiful, long thick lashes AND I wasn't sure if I was ready for such a commitment but.. I GOT MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME!

As you may all know, Lash Extensions or some may call it "lash extenders" are individual strands of synthetic lashes attached to your natural lashes one by one using special glue. This idea is heaven-sent for some of us who aren't lucky enough to be born with long, gorgeous, thick lashes. Plus, they're more convinient for on-the-go ladies who are too lazy to put on mascara or false lashes. I'm sure you could proudly pull off a legit #iwokeuplikethis FOTD with that!

Want one but not sure whether to push through? Ooh La Lash, the country's most trusted lash extensions salon, shares the essential things you need to know to help you decide and finally go for that dreamy lashes you've always wanted!

You Should Do These Before Getting Your Lash Extensions Done
According to the lash experts at Ooh La Lash, you should:

1.) Make sure to cleanse your eyes and remove any eye makeup or products applied as it may interfere with the adhesives and may cause reaction.
2.) Make sure you don't have the following conditions: Conjunctivitis, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Styes, Alopecia, Blepharitis or if you are undergoing chemotherapy.
3.) You cannot have eyelash extensions if you had an eye operation / eye surgery within the last 6 months.
4.) If you have scarring to the eye area, eyelash extension service should be performed 6 months after the scarred area has been healed.
5.) Contact lenses cannot be worn before and directly after the eyelash extension service.
6.) If you wear glasses, don't forget to bring these with you so that the lash technician can make sure there is room for your glasses to grow.

Do Lash Extensions Hurt?

Way way back in the 80s, it really does! Could you imagine they used to sew hair into the eyelids before? Tiis ganda much? Good thing we don't have to endure that! Mine didn't hurt because it is not a painful process. BUT, it might be uncomfortable to some since they would have to keep their eyes closed from an hour. They're not bad, I even fell asleep while having mine done. Lol! At first you might feel a bit of discomfort adjusting to it but it will eventually go away. All their lash technicians are certified by TESDA so you won't have to worry about it. Honestly, I could personally vouch that they're more comfortable than false lashes.

Which Lashes Are Best For You?

At Ooh La Lash, they use synthetic eyelash extensions as they are more hygienic and studier than other materials. What's great about it is you have the freedom to choose your curl, length and thickness. Yup, even lash extensions have variations too! To be on the safe side, I got the Classic (51-85 lashes, P890) which is said to have the perfect length and curl to add oomph to my everyday look. I think I could even fool people into thinking they're real!

Other options for the lash extensions includes Light and Natural (30-50 lashes, P690) for natural-looking lashes that would go unnoticed, Diva (86-130 lashes, P1,090) for voluminous lashes with ultimate curl and length that scream va va voom! and Vixen (unlimited lashes, P1290) for long and beautiful lashes to die for! It would be best to consult the lash experts at Ooh La Lash to asses which kind of extensions are best for your lashes. A few are advised not to carry a heavier extension if their thin lashes may be too weak. Plus, all their products and materials are safe, FDA approved and globally-accepted.

How Do I Care For My Newly "Glammed" Lashes?

FOR THE FIRST 48 HOURS AFTER THE SERVICE
1.) Avoid wetting your lashes.
2.) Avoid swimming or exposure to heat.
3.) Do not apply oil-based creams and lotions on or around your eyes.
4.) Do not apply eye or lash makeup.
5.) Avoid eyelash tinting, perming or chemical eyelash treatments.
6.) Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach.

AFTER 48 HOURS
1.) Avoid excessive exposure to heat or steam when swimming, showering or exercising.
2.) Avoid rubbing your eyes and do not pick or pull your extensions as it might pull off your natural lashes.
3.) Avoid using oil based makeup remover as it can weaken the adhesives and might cause your lashes to fall off fast.
4.) If you choose to wear mascara, strictly buy the water-based type.
5.) Do not use eyelash curlers.
