Sophie Magic Pink Cream Review

I'm anemic. Those two words alone already justifies why I need to put on blush. A lot of people find I'm "maputla" even though I don't even have a pale complexion. It's really odd.

As much as I love blushes, not all could withstand long wear. Powder blushes tend to get rubbed off while cream blushes seem to slide off my oily skin.

Sophie Magic Pink Cream has never ever failed me since I've been using this since 2011. I've always seen this item being sold at Multiply from way way back so it really made me curious about it.
Plus, for a price of P85, it wasn't something too expensive to risk buying anyway.

Prior to applying, this product when dispensed looks like a creamy white lotion or moisturizer. Now here's where the "magic" begins.. It transforms into a flattering pink shade after a few seconds!

The better part, it's long wear. One time I accidentally squeezed out too much product and smeared some on my younger sister's cheek just to annoy her. After she washed her face with water, we've noticed that the product wasn't even removed to begin with. Hahahaha

FOTD with the blush on. Check it out! No filters! :3

Pros:

  • Inexpensive.
  • No breakouts.
  • Long wear and waterproof.
  • Easy to dispense.
  • Hygienic to use.
  • Color suits all skin tones.

Cons:

  • Long wear and waterproof.
  • Sometimes you'll tend to overdo putting it on because it takes a while for the color to change.
  • Not readily available at department stores, you have to buy through Sophie stores or members.

All in all, it's my HG blush that I'd always repurchase in a heartbeat. I think I'm on my 4th or 5th tube already but who's counting anyway? Hahaha. I'm still looking for potential HG blushes (preferably orange or red) that would dethrone this baby! Someday... Someday...

CNA Grand Opening at Fairview Terraces!

CNA, Korea’s No. 1 accessory shop has opened its 6th branch in Metro Manila,
this time at Fairview Terraces, the latest shopping mall by the Ayala Malls group.

CNA, which stands for “Culture, Nature, Art” is a concept store that has been in the Philippines since 2012.
.

The opening of the branch in Fairview Terraces had been much anticipated by the loyal supporters of the brand. I'm not kidding, there's a really huge crowd of people that I feel like I'm in a middle of a mosh pit! The ribbon-cutting was graced by the owners of CNA Philippines and Korea, as well as the administration executives and officers of Ayala Terraces.

GMA7 talent and CNA’s newest brand ambassador, Dasuri Choi, along with her dance group,
Sapphire, entertained the patrons with a special K-pop performance.

Furthermore, CNA has since gained a major following among the local K-pop fans for being one of the few stores in the country to carry the latest Korean pop album releases and merchandise. Some lucky people in the crowd even got to score CNA merchandises and EXO albums and a lot more during the program.

If you want to check out their stylish and inexpensive items that are perfect for gifts (since my birthday is coming soon, joke!) or for everyday use, you may visit the latest CNA branch at the 2ndlevel of Fairview Terraces. Three more CNA shops will be opened in the metro on the third quarter of this year. So you guys better watch out!

The store offers high-quality and affordable fancy jewelries such as earrings, necklaces and bracelets, hair ornaments, trinkets and other accessories, which possess that distinct Korean style.

Everyone knows how much I'm obsessed with my hair. My favorite accessory for my curls are ribbons.
I love how they give me that distinct dainty look. Hihi

Some of these are necklaces that could be also used as a bracelet. I'm planning to get the 3rd one in the picture when I happen to drop by Cubao Farmers since it's the nearest branch for me.

It's also awesome that they have the cheapest hair tools such as the donut bun that retails for only P50.
What a steal! In most stores they are selling these for P80 to P150. It's a heaven for accessories lovers like me! The store is complete with even clip on bangs and wigs there too!

The earrings there are quite unique too. I'd totally buy the tetris earrings when I happen to drop by soon!

And if you're into that loom band craze, they also have cheaper ones there for P100 per set.

These socks are too cute that I won't use them as such. I can't imagine these cats touching the floor. :(
I'd like them to be my cellphone pouch or something.

If you're not sure on which accessories you should go for..
Here are four creative style inspirations that you could try out with their accessories:

They have everything that suits your style. Whether you're preppy or spunky, you can always find it there! I'm totally digging the spiky headband now. It looks really cool!

Here are some of the the CNA accessories that I got my hands on. Can't wait to make a FOTD with these!

National Makeover Day on June 12!

Do you love makeovers? Yes? Guess what, I have great news for all of you! Hope you all could read more as I will spill the details about the upcoming event by HBC which I will share to you a little later in this post.

Last Thursday we were invited by Ms. Kumiko Mae to a quaint diner at BGC named Stacy's to learn more about this #BeautifulChange by HBC. I love how cozy the ambiance of this place is, I wish I took more photos. Anyway, if you're wondering how to get to Stacy's, it's just behind The Mind Museum.

Along with me were a lot of Manila's fabulous beauty bloggers where we got to talk about our experiences with our journey to achieving a beautiful change and how it influenced our lives for the better. I thought the makeover day was that day so I didn't bother putting on any makeup. Don't judge me. Lol.

Before the program started, they offered us a very appetizing buffet that consists of spaghetti meatballs, potato chicken, spareribs, salad and my favorite of course, the fish fillet.

No meal is complete without the desserts! Whoever made this cupcake is really amazing!
I love how the icing resembles a delicate pink rose. :3

During the program, we got to understand the mission of HBC which is to celebrate women empowerment by supporting their right to experience a beautiful change. I know some of you are rolling their eyes and wondering "How do even makeovers help women?" or "Women who are putting on makeup are just subjecting themselves to be objectified blablablah". It's not. Some people just can't understand that some women like me, put on makeup not to appeal to the guys but make themselves feel more confident by looking great.

So please guys, do me a favor and stop telling me "I don't like girls who put on makeup" and "I think you look better without makeup on". I'm not doing this to impress you boys. I'm doing this to express myself.
Admit it, it takes a special skill to put on great makeup.

We also got to personally experience a wide variety of products from HBC. I haven't tried the Body Recipe Line yet but I remembered my cousin Kamille really swears by it. She told me her secret to getting a lighter skintone was the Body Recipe Papaya Body Scrub and Lotion. I'm currently using the Calamansi Facial Wash and it didn't gave me a breakouts the moment. I like how it isn't too harsh on the face.

I haven't tried these but the concept of a slimming soap is quite interesting.
I've heard of L-Carnitine on drinks but I've never encountered putting it on the skin.

These products aren't so foreign to me because I've checked out Rattus' blog reviews about San San from way way back and I was really convinced on trying out the eyeshadows because it was affordable and performs well.

The Hortaleza Hair Coloring Cream was also a familiar sight as it was considered a staple of by my friends. I've seen their manes and I've noticed that it's one of the best affordable haircolor that you could have. It performs really well that my friend sported her vibrant red locks for her cosplay. Such a shame I already had my hair dyed already, it would've saved me a fortune if I bought these instead!

During the program, we were also highly encouraged to share our transformation stories. We all know not all of us are "biologically blessed" like the others. Surprisingly, everyone had their own different issues regarding how they looked like before. Could you imagine Alice didn't have a flawless skin when she was in high school?

Everyone has their own story. Growing up, I was an ugly duckling. I remembered how I used to be a late bloomer and it wasn't until college that I started looking like a girl. Yes, a girl. I was a tomboy back then, I refused to have my messy hair combed and I cried during gradation because they were forcing me to wear makeup. It's funny how puberty will really changed you.

You guys might be wondering how I changed. I realized how people started treating me better and respecting me more when I look all polished and well-maintained. It must be the halo effect of psychology.. Whatever it is, I think it's a great change because it's not just about looking good but also feeling good as well. The sheer thought of treating your body well gives you a sense of confidence that cannot be easily replicated.
Glad I already bloomed.

Since I believe everyone has the right to feel beautiful. I'd like to share some of the things I've received from this really heavy box from HBC to my loyal readers. Stay tuned!

Of course, the journey of self-improvement doesn't end there. I believe with the forever changing world we live in, there are always new discoveries in technology that could change us for the better.

That is why I'm inviting all of you to save the date this week for the first ever National Makeover Day on June 12, 2014 from 10:00am onwards at Trinoma Mall Activity Center and all HBC outlets nationwide. It's something exciting to look forward to because they'll be offering FREE exclusive services such as Manicures, Diamond Peels, Hair Color Application and many more for a minimum purchase! Not only that, there will be also celebrity guests for your entertainment and experts that will share practical makeover tips and personality development talks! Say YES to a beautiful change!

Thanks for reading this post and I absolutely can't wait to see everyone's beautiful faces there!
Hope to see you all soon!

Revlon Nail Expressionist Review + Quick Nail Art Tutorial

One thing I'm proud of as an artist is I have no problems dealing with fine brushes. Whether it's an eyeliner brush or nail art brushes, it doesn't really matter as long as I could express myself.

This was taken 4 days after I've applied it. I apologize for my not so photogenic hand since I have no hand model at the moment. Jk. I think this photo doesn't do this justice. Lol. Anyway the product that I've used for this nail art is the Revlon Nail Art Expressionist in Night and Degas. I'm sure it looks familiar to you guys because I got this during the BDJ BOX Beauty Soiree: Nail Art Party with Revlon.

I tried and tested it out. And here's how I did this chic nail art. It's really simple and it only takes two steps. I find it weird that most people thought it takes a special skill to do this yourself or I had this nail art done at the salon.

First, put on a black base coat. I love how this one is so opaque and has a matte finish to it. However as much as I'd like to keep it matte... based on my experience, you still have to put a top coat to protect your nail art and make it last longer. You could be messy as you want since the mistakes could be easily removed with a Q-tip and nail polish remover after.

Then you make straight and diagonal lines in pairs. Avoid intersecting the other pair of lines. The white end of this has a slightly glossy finish compared to the black one which makes the designs stand out more. I know that this end is specialized for drawing because this one has a long thin brush compared to the black end that has a thicker brush for easier base coverage. If you have a steady hand, you might be capable of drawing Chinese characters with this. So awesome.

Pros:
  • It doesn't take too much time for it to dry.
  • It doesn't smell bad.
  • It's very opaque, 1-2 coats would be enough.
  • It's long lasting with a top coat.
  • Compared to using nail art pens, I must say that these are much more easier to apply especially when executing straight fine lines.
  • Quite handy because it doesn't take up much space since it's a 2-in-1 product.
Cons:
  • Provided that I'm a cheapskate, it's quite pricey for P375.
  • Since it dries quickly, mine already dried out after a few usage. I don't know if it's the product or I didn't close it tight enough.which isn't really much of an issue.

All in all, I believe it's a great product for people who wants to get into nail art.
Hope you guys enjoyed this review and quick nail art tutorial.

Hope you guys follow me too on Instagram so I could keep you posted on some of my nail creations! :D
