How Do I Look? Asia Arrives on DIVA to Fix Asia’s Fashion Faux Pas

I'm a late bloomer and it took a while for me to appreciate the beauty of styling and makeup. Some of my friends who have been with me for the longest time would always remind me how I was an ugly duckling back then, something that I have mentioned in my previous posts. I always believed that moving out of your comfort zone and trying new things will help you grow. Other than that, knowing that you look good on the outside will also make you feel good inside. Thus, a much needed confidence boost for us very shy women!

If you are a huge fan of transformations like me, I want you all to check out SAZZY FALAK and JEANNIE MAI in the all-new Asian take on the popular US hit makeover series!

It’s time to go head over heels for DIVA’s How Do I Look? Asia – the highly anticipated Asian re-imagination of the hit fashion makeover series. Billed as “Asia’s ultimate fashion fix,” How Do I Look? Asia will make its debut on Monday, 31 August at 8PM (SIN/MAL) on DIVA, NBCUniversal International Networks’ leading entertainment channel for women in Asia.

The NBCUniversal International format, produced by NBCUniversal’s Matchbox Asia, follows Malaysian celebrity and style icon Sazzy Falak as she guides eight fashion victims to the path of fashion enlightenment. Jeannie Mai, host of the original U.S. version, and a familiar face to Asian viewers, features in each episode, setting up the fashion challenges each week.

Onesie-addict/ Blogger Apple Allison of Sole Searching Soul

Rebel Teacher Lianni

Literally "plain" Jane

The fashion-challenged victims include onesie-addict/ blogger Apple Allison of Sole Searching Soul (Philippines); indie rock guitarist Ariana (Malaysia); mismatch, mishap/ watercolor artist Choc (Taiwan); sales executive, and literally “plain” Jane (Philippines/Australia); overachieving, yet outdated, Lavinya (Malaysia); rebel teacher Lianni (Philippines); romantically-insecure Maisarah (Singapore); and the uninspiringly-dressed motivational speaker Yessinta (Indonesia).

To achieve a professional look that can be replicated for the everyday, Sazzy will be joined by a guest stylist in each episode: Liz Uy (Filipina celebrity stylist); Zac Wu (Taiwanese celebrity stylist); Andrea Wong (former editor of Elle Malaysia); and Anindita Saryuf (fashion director of Elle Indonesia).
In each episode, Sazzy and an accomplice – a concerned family member, friend or colleague – will help transform the lucky fashion victim into a beacon of style.

After having their wardrobe raided, the individual will have their current fashion choices face the “Eww Tube”, one of the iconic features of the original format. The “Eww Tube” is a vacuum cleaner-like machine that literally sucks offending outfits up and away after they have been eliminated by the panel of fashion experts and accomplices. The transformations featured on the series transcend fashion and style. Viewers will also get to witness the complex and emotional backstories of the victims, whose glamorous new looks, and freshly developed sense of style, act as a catalyst for them to adopt a more positive and confident outlook on life.

“How Do I Look? Asia is a testament to DIVA’s position as the leading women’s entertainment channel in Asia. We are confident that this ground-breaking local production, like its original franchise, will strongly resonate with our core female audiences across the region,” said Christine Fellowes, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, NBCUniversal International Networks. “Using the insights from various in-depth research initiatives on Asian women that NBCUniversal has conducted and developed over the recent years, How Do I Look? Asia features many of the elements that we found women loved: fabulous and fun makeovers, the hottest fashion trends tailored to Asian sensibilities, inspiring and heart-warming personal stories, and a positive underlying message that encourages every woman to be her best self.”

Jeannie and Sazzy will be making live appearances as they tour Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam later this month on the following dates:
- Singapore: 20-22 August
- Kuala Lumpur: 23-25 August
- Ho Chi Minh City: 26-27 August
How Do I Look? Asia Season One is presented by regional sponsor Zalora.
Tito Costa, Managing Director of ZALORA Group, said, “We’re excited to be working with How Do I Look? Asia’s very first season of fashion makeover series and we’re proud to contribute to the life-changing makeovers featured throughout the show. ZALORA supports Asia's diverse forms of beauty and seeks to empower women through fashion by giving them the confidence to own whatever moment they find themselves in and to encourage them to be the best version of themselves. The show’s goal is aligned with ZALORA’s commitment to provide a carefully-curated range of fashion options as the right tools to create confidence-boosting looks. This is perfectly echoed in the weekly fashion transformations featured throughout the show.”

In Malaysia, the series is also presented by Marigold Yogurt Drink and Panasonic Beauty.
Clozette is the Official Fashion Social Network of the series, which is filmed at an NBCUniversal International studio set built in Solaire Resort and Casino, Manila.

Fun with Philip on GMA News TV!

Lifestyle is simply a life lived in style. There are many styles, choices and preferences. Philip Abadicio wants to make sure that we all have fun while living our different lifestyles in his latest TV show, “Fun with Philip,” on GMA News TV every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. starting this August 2014.

He was meant to be a lifestyler. After finishing college in U.P. Diliman, Philip and his pals setup Wild Life, a clothing store catering to cool high school and college kids. They used the heartthrobs and sweethearts of the top schools and this marketing strategy gave them sales beyond their expectations. The lifestyle editor of the Manila Times took notice of Wild Life and invited Philip to be a contributor.

The initial half page that he had to fill up would eventually be extended into 2 pages with various lifestyle news—food, fashion, parties, beautiful people, travel. The job opened doors and several lifestyle experiences for Philip. “My network expanded and I realized I really loved lifestyle news and coverage,” he shares.

Philip also interacted closely with the PR’s and publicity industry. He learned how PR is done effectively and opened RPA and Communicate, a PR agency specializing in lifestyle and society clients. “In the 90s and 2000’s lifestyle was mostly for the affluent, done in English and always featuring high-end products and services,” he relates. Things have changed since then.

In the age of reality TV, lifestyle is no longer just for the rich and those who can afford it. “I’ve always maintained that lifestyle should not just be aspirational but more importantly, it should inspire people to live their lives in style, no matter what circumstance you are in,” he explains.

After 2 seasons each of “It’s More Fun with Philip” and “Philip Lifestyle Guy,” the objective of making sure lifestyle is understood and appreciated by a wider audience has been started. In the latest offering, “Fun with Philip,” the agenda to help and entertain is pushed even further. Chosen letter senders will experience the food, beauty treatments, fitness regimen, etc. that are featured on the show. More than this, contests both on-air and online via www.philipabadicio.com will give viewers more chances of enjoying the lifestyle features on the show.

“Fun with Philip” is a show made for lifestylers. As they say on the show, “mga Kapusong Lifestylers, we will give you the surprises for you to win the prizes!” A segment called Kwentuhang Kumot, where Philip interviews a celebrity under the sheets as he or she reveals untold secrets, will be there.

Philip will be joined by his FunKicks, the sidekicks or co-hosts who will help provide more fun.

They are actress and commercial model Valeen Montenegro who will be with Philip to handle the Fashion and Beauty segments, and fitness coach Bryan Lopez Santos who will be Philip's exercise buddy in the Health and Fitness segments.

“The show will be a lot of fun while you learn something new and you can apply it in your lives plus, you just might win prizes too,” Philip says.

Nikita

Okaaaaay. I already knew this show already existed way way back but I didn't think I would love it this much! I've watched the Pilot episode this month and i'm totally hooked!

I love Nikita and it's just what tv needs, a hot independent lady in total control over herself. I love it!!!
I like that it's not about just about women empowerment but also about standing up to the big guy. And to think I hate watching action movies...

And for those Nikita fans out there, I have a great news! Nikita is renewed for season 3! Oh yeah!
It sucks though because I don't know what time ETC airs this so I keep myself awake and watch ETC from 12 in the morning till they air it.

I know. It sucks. Eyebags definitely sucks. But it's worth it! Go ahead! Watch it nao!!!1
