Rockin' Good Time at Rue Bourbon Eastwood

For those who haven't visited Rue Bourbon at Eastwood's City Walk, I'll let you in on the details of their awesome food and beverages so you know exactly what you should be getting on a Friday night!

Rue Bourbon is a bar and restaurant that specializes in New Orleans cuisine with a lot of extraordinary drinks to choose from. The name comes from the famous street in New Orleans where there are lots of bars, tattoo parlors, and the likes alongside each other catering to thousands of tourists looking for a hell of a good time.

The name Rue Bourbon is French for Bourbon Street and it is also known for its famous street parties and Mardi Gras parade. The dream of the owners of Rue Bourbon is to bring a little bit of that to the Philippines which pretty much explains what's up with the masquerade and necklaces.

Here's the first floor of Rue Bourbon where the bartender can easily show of his skills. But I'll get back to that later.

If you want a more cozy ambiance, you might want to check out their second floor.
The seats there are so comfortable. It's really the perfect spot to unwind.

Some of the funny signs inside

They also have a smoking area at the second floor which has a great view of Eastwood City Walk. If the view looks a little bit familiar to you, Rue Bourbon is conveniently located next to BBB.

Angeline Rodriguez from When In Manila also invited Robert Francis Rubin, the Founder of Mysterium Philippines.
His services are pretty expensive so it was totally worthwhile to try his skills for free.

I'm not going to tell everyone what he told me about my tarot card reading. Let's just say he got some things right but my reading weren't as accurate as Alice and Kate's. It was funny, Denise didn't want to have her cards read due to religious beliefs so she asked Francis if he could give her the winning lottery numbers instead.
Sadly, he refused to give them out. Hahahaha

As for the food there, I wish I didn't went there on a full stomach because I didn't get to taste a lot of the great dishes they had on the menu. Huhuhu

Shrimp and Chips (P375)
Kate and I really love this platter of shrimp and chips. The shrimp reminds me of the very fresh ones of Suzhou.
I love how tender the shrimp is along with the perfectly cooked fries. I don't like my fries too crispy so this is totally my taste.

Beef Rue Nachos (P450)
Mommy Lariza pointed out that unlike the usual nachos served everywhere, this is a little more "meatier" than the others that we got to try. It's a huge plate so if you think it's too pricey for a platter of nachos, it's not. It's good to share with 2-3 people.

Roast Beef Hash (P310)
I totally understood why my co-worker Jem, recommended us to get this. This is a must-try. Imagine a flavorful, tender, juicy beef with buttered roasted veggies.

Now on to the best part, the wide variety of beverages! Of all the places that I have been so far, I've never been to a place that serves a lot of beverages to the extent that it occupies more than two-thirds of the entire menu. They have a lot to choose from like wines, mojitos, cocktails, long drinks, shooters, local and imported beers, flavored beers even non-alcoholic drinks. It's crazy! Sometimes they even do auctions of their finest bottles. That night were able to get some shots of Patron Tequila and even go to witness an auctioned bottle of Patron go for only P1,300!

Gun Powder Shooter (P 195)
My first drink was this gun powder shooter, it's made with rhum infused with anise then sprinkled with lots of cinnamon powder. At first, I was really afraid. Not of the flames or the rhum, but because of the cinnamon powder!! I'm not a fan of cinnamon and I've heard that ingesting a teaspoon of cinnamon powder could cause you to choke uncontrollably. Nevertheless, I didn't choke and I love the hot sensation it gives when it goes down your throat, really awesome stuff.
You have to try this out!

Gummy Bear Shooter (P220)
This is my second favorite shooter next to Gun Powder! It's a fun and light drink that smells like rootbeer. Don't worry, the gummy bears doesn't pack a punch. I recommend this to everyone with an insatiable sweet tooth like me!

Love Spell Shooter (P220)
Topped with whipped cream, this sweet concoction reminds me of mudshake except instead of caramel or chocolate, it has coffee in it. According to them, this cocktail will help you feel slicker than a Harpooned Hippo on a banana tree. I'm quite sad because I thought it was some sort of love potion. I guess I have to go to Quiapo for that. Hahahaha

Classic Mojito (P230)
Kate ordered this and she finds it very refreshing. Other available variants of this are the Manileno, Mango, Strawberry, Apple, Guava, Caipiranha, Calpiroska, Pineapple and Virgin. It's also available in two sizes: a glass for P230 and a pitcher for P650.

Big Ass Cucumber Beer (P280)
Alice originally ordered this for herself but she noticed I kinda liked it a lot so she allowed me to take this huge mug of beer with me. Lol. It tastes really great and it doesn't have an awkward aftertaste. THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE GREAT TASTING BEER! I wish San Mig Light brewers would take some cues!!! Anyway, I'm really sold and I'm planning to go back to try their much talked about Caramel Beer!

They also have it in two sizes which is available in glass for P120 and big ass for P280.
Other flavors include Apple, Lychee, Hazelnut and Rose.

Green Fairy Cocktail
It's not yet available on the menu so we were also the first ones to try it. It's called as such because it's made out of absinthe. However, my lips never met with the glass because I'm afraid that I might start to see a green fairy just like in Moulin Rouge. Hahaha.

The Inception
Along with the Green Fairy Cocktail, this one is not yet available on the menu, but we're one of the first ones to try this bomber set. Lucky us! I forgot what I had with my draft beer but Alice was the brave one who took on the Jager bomb which consists of Jagermeister and Red Bull.

Here's the thing I was talking about earlier. Check out his marvelous skills!
This video doesn't do him enough justice!

All in all, I had a hell of a great time at Rue Bourbon. Surprisingly, none of the lovely drinks got to wipe out my memory of this excellent place. Maybe the experience was THAT memorable? Lol

Want the same experience? Check them out as they have four convinient branches to choose from which is in Eastwood, Makati, Bonifacio Global City and Tagaytay. Open Mondays to Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM and 5 PM to 2 AM
